November 2018 17 bikes and riders who show up each me. While a couple younger riders enter here and there, most of the compe tors are ge ng at least a few gray hairs, and seem to be age-appropriate for the majority of the vintage bikes that popu- late this event. Now with Trials already being one of the most affordable dirt bike sports out there, it's worth men oning that Vintage Trials might be the most affordable of them all. A decent twin shock Trials bike can be easily had for only $1,000 or so, and a really nice example can s ll be under the 2K price point. Not much need be done to the bikes to make them compe - on-ready; with a modern set of Trials res being the only mod needed to bring them up to snuff for most any class at this kind of event. The variety of bikes from this era is wonder- ful as well, with so many great older Trials bike brands such as Bultaco, Montesa, Ossa, Greeves, Penton, BSA, Co on, Yamaha, Hon- da, Suzuki, and Kawasaki and others, all easily available, and most s ll with great parts sourc- es to support them for many years to come! These are all bikes from the Golden Age of Trial, and they all can s ll evoke feelings of nostalgia while riding, maintaining, or even just looking at them. Having been to this event personally, I cannot say enough about what a great job Gordon does each season to make this happen, and all out of the goodness of his heart, and his enthu- siasm and love for the sport and the people of Trials. If you truly feel as if you have stepped back into the 1970's once again, I suggest you put this event on your calendar, and see for yourself just how much fun can be had for very li le investment in your machine! And if you have a modern bike for Trial, you are s ll welcome to ride in a modern bike class for the day as well, but be forewarned, the Vintage bikes will lure you in, and you soon might find yourself shopping for one yourself, and then returning each year to enjoy Gordon Brennan's Kentuck Trial!
