Tim Startz on a Yamaha...ahem..."trail" bike! Yup, he finished both days, even the final grass track moto! stantaneous. The computerized transponder scoring nearly eliminates errors and protests, and there was always a crowd around the Moto Tally trailer watching the big screen for their scores and enjoying the piped in music. The traditional Saturday night banquet was held at the nearby Timbercreek Stable and the house was packed. Jack Penton em- ceed the evening and brought many Six Days riders up to speak about their racing experiences. There always seems to be at least one surprise guest, and this year it was Norm McDonald… the "N" in K & N Filters…who is also the oldest Yamaha dealer in the world and has sponsored many fast national riders in the past. Norm and his wife were guests of the Winters family and he received the Leroy Winters Memorial Award at the end of the Greg Holder (l) and Dwight Rudder (r) sporting 70's riding gear and all smiles. Greg was on a 100cc Penton Berkshire and Dwight was on a 175cc Penton Jackpiner. January 2013 49
