Tim Startz on a Yamaha...ahem..."trail"
bike! Yup, he finished both days, even the
final grass track moto!
stantaneous. The computerized transponder scoring nearly eliminates errors and protests, and there was always a crowd around
the Moto Tally trailer watching the big screen for their scores
and enjoying the piped in music.
The traditional Saturday night banquet was held at the nearby
Timbercreek Stable and the house was packed. Jack Penton em-
ceed the evening and brought many Six Days riders up to speak
about their racing experiences. There always seems to be at
least one surprise guest, and this year it was Norm McDonald…
the "N" in K & N Filters…who is also the oldest Yamaha dealer
in the world and has sponsored many fast national riders in the
past. Norm and his wife were guests of the Winters family and
he received the Leroy Winters Memorial Award at the end of the
Greg Holder (l) and Dwight Rudder (r) sporting 70's riding gear and all smiles. Greg was on a 100cc Penton
Berkshire and Dwight was on a 175cc Penton Jackpiner.
