16 Trail Rider Reading Off-Road Riders "Broad Mountain Enduro" By Lissa Arsenault-Aldakimov It's been a few since an Enduro Report could be wri en, but the ECEA Enduro Series has felt the burn this year, no pun intended, of circum- stances beyond the associa ons or club's con- trol. The first event, Greenbrier Enduro, was hit with a last-minute land-loss, but s ll managed to dash together a course. Since then, the big South Jersey Enduro Riders' crew and their "Curly Fern Enduro" was dealt a blow with a last-minute cancella on due to the heavy rains and the land manager's view of it being "too wet" to host. The third, Meteor Motor- cycle Club and their "Sandy Lane Enduro," one of the oldest Enduros in the na on s ll going (since 1933), was cancelled the night before(!) due to a huge forest fire right in the heart of their event, torching several sec ons! Both of these events have been rescheduled for later fall dates, but the drama doesn't end here. Delaware Enduro Riders and their well-known Delaware State Enduro (was a Na onal for many years) were also cancelled due to a per- mi ng issue the Friday before their event with no word on a new date this year. Fortunately, the Pine Barrens Enduro Riders and their "Clock Run" went off without a hitch (or too much rain, or a fire, or a permit issue…), but I wasn't able to a end to give a proper report (sorry PBER!). This brings us to #6, Reading Off-Road Riders and their Broad Mountain Enduro held in the hills of Coal Country, Northeastern Penn- sylvania. Memorial Day Weekend conjures up many feelings for different people. It's a me of remembrance of those who made the ul mate sacrifice serving our country, affording us the freedom to sport mullets, drink High Life and thrash dirt bikes. For others, it marks the begin- ning of the Eastern Seaboard Summer.
