July 2019 19 Supposedly, there were eight sec ons in total, and to be quite honest, it all ran together for most riders unless you're gi ed with wings and glide over the crud us mere mortals blun- der and drag our carcasses through. The first gas available, at roughly ten miles out, wasn't marked with arrows, and we all know what happens when you take dirt bikers, slap a helmet on them and proceed to spin them in circles. We lose about half our IQ, followed the course arrows and likely missed the first gas stop. If you're a "sand flea" that spends more me flopping on your side in the rocks than being upright or run an eye-dropper-sized fuel tank, that fuel stop was much needed. There wasn't just one AA/A/B loop this year, there were two! One prior to the second Gas Avail- able had a half-mile long creek bed nestled in it (that from the amount of riders parked in it, probably felt considerably longer), loaded with tube TV and fridge-sized rocks, with water clear enough to appear in a Coor's ad but likely cause a tumor. A second helping for AA/A/B classes, the last sec on of the day, because nothing says "You Suck" more than being spent and riding an addi onal five miles of s ck farm-rock garden. Yes, you heard correctly. A "S ck Farm" AND a "Rock Garden" combined. Consider it a hybrid of the best (or worst depending upon your opinion of these things) South Jersey and Pennsyee offers. RORR's club membership was heavy in the woods and visi- ble at most tougher areas to encourage riders and bear witness to the carnage. This club has technical terrain to work with and prides itself on doing just that, and for that, though many a rider probably ques ons their sanity for signing up year a er year knowing full well you and your bike are about to get trashed, we thank you. In this day and age of off-road events, going to one extreme or the other, wide-open high speed events catered to moto crossers or a technical ill-fest designed with Trials Skills in mind, RORR has kept the tradi onal gut punch, mekeeping, Race of A ri on Enduro alive. Top three overall were Ed Emery, Brian Maco and Sean Koeller, making the 18-check event look easy like a crew of rock-hounds! Heather Meily won the Women's Class, mak- ing it to Check 13 of 16 for the short course! Ka e Carney and Jenn Houghton came in second and third. Congratula ons, ladies on ge ng through some tough stuff!
