July 2019 9 With a tremendous amount of rain in the days leading up to the event, dust wasn't a concern. With bright blue skies, along with temps in the low 80's, water was flowing from the southern New Hampshire hills in every direc on. Those unfamil- iar with the phrase, "s ll waters run deep," found themselves sucking water. Fortunately, most were familiar with the area and knew where to pick the good lines. With endless New England rocks, a hard bo om could always be found. The beauty of the 'Classic is how well the land- owners interact with the New England Chapter Cys c Fibrosis Founda on. I'm sure the vast ma- jority are really not too fond of the hundreds of dirt bikers traversing their pris ne proper es, but since it benefits such a noble cause, permission is graciously given for this one weekend a year. Saturday's run had us heading south of the Speed- way, immediately spilling into a rather challenging single-track sec on. This eventually led out us to some pre y sweet Class VI Roads. Class VI roads include those that have been discon nued and are subject to gates and bars, as well as those that have "not been maintained and repaired by the town in suitable condi on for travel" for five suc- cessive years or more. Amongst the challenging ght stuff, we wound our way south to the towns of Hookse and Allen- stown, where we were treated to some really sweet fast and flowy stuff in Bear Brook State Park. For this, we can thank the MVTR club since riding dirt bikes in Bear Brook is typically highly verbo- ten! MVTR was granted permission for this one weekend by applying for a 'Special Use" permit. With minimal roots and rocks, along with beau - ful groomed, flowing trails, riders greatly enjoyed passing through Bear Brook. Not long a er exi ng Bear Brook, riders were treated to an exquisite lunch prepared by MVTR Member Bob DeRose of Abbey Run Construc on. DeRose opened up his pris ne property for a few hours while serving hordes of hungry and thirsty dirt bikers. The boys from Freedom Cycle in nearby Concord, New Hampshire, were also on the scene with their fully ou i ed support trailer. Freedom's Tyler Domenichello and Raine Nowak handled countless flat fixes and minor repairs while the rid- ers enjoyed their lunch. Year a er year, Freedom Cycle graciously lends a helping hand while expect- ing nothing in return. You guys rock!
