September 2019 15 Cayuga County Riders is very fortunate to have access to several large tracts of farm land do ed with some incredible acreage of woods. Hidden within these woods are some of the best flowy singletrack trail rider could ever wish for. This year's ISDT Reunion was held at CCR mem- ber Jake Todd's family farm. CCR calls this parcel of heaven "The Badlands". Located deep into the Finger Lakes region, over- looking the shores of Cayuga Lake, The Badlands offers abundant camping within their lush green fields and amazingly not a mosquito bite the en re weekend! The vast majority of riders arrived Friday night. Several of us did some last minute bike prep before hi ng the hay. In keeping with true ISDT format and tradi on, the bikes were impounded into Parc Ferme' before the start of the event. CCR members, Jake Todd, Dave Barnes, a third genera on CCR member and local AA rider, along with lifelong vintage and modern off-road enthusiast, Joe Chodnicki did their best to ex- plain the format of the two day event. Saturday we were greeted to two laps of an im- peccably groomed 19.8 mile loop that included rock strewn river beds, some sweet eleva on changes and beau ful flowing single track. My bike of choice for this event was my dear friend Howie's old '82 430WR Husky. I'm sure Howie was smiling down from above seeing his much loved Husky ripping third and fourth gear sin- gletrack. Our CCR friends included six special tests over Saturday's 40 mile course. On Sunday we were treated to two special tests over an en rely different sec on of prop- erty owned by the Todd family. To say it was fun would be an understatement. Riders were treated to a loop around their beau ful family homestead, through a tunnel-like sec on of pines, into and out of one of their barns and then off into a series of dried up riverbeds. With li le to no ruts, riders ripped through the fast and flowy terrain with mile wide grins. We wrapped this sec on up by noon and I'll be honest, it was sooo good, I'd have gladly ripped another loop. Certainly stuff we dream about during the winter months...
