NETRA���ENDURO���SERIES The Snow Run Story by Rich Seymour Photos by Art Pepin The Connecticut Rambers Somers, Ct. 1/27/13 T he 2013 NETRA race series���, both Enduro and Hare Scrambles alike, got off to a start before the 2012 seasons were put to bed with the annual awards banquet and ceremonies taking place one and two weeks after the first round of each series. The cold, hard facts of this event are pretty consistent with previous Snow Runs and read as you would expect; The week previous to the Snow Run was laced with anticipation and uncertainties about tire selection due to the schizo- 6 Trail Rider phrenic New England weather patterns we have all become accustomed to. Sunday morning was bitterly cold and the frozen conditions required a selection of carbide of one form or another. Attendance was pretty respectable for any Enduro and impressive given all the excuses one could think of to stay in a warm bed on a late January morning. The Rambler���s did an outstanding job of putting together another quality event and deserve high praises for doing so with short, cold, and often wet days to work with. The rest of the story is all the interesting occurrences that go into preparing for the event, the near misses, the ���coulda, shoulda, woulda��� moments that every RACE VIDEO HELMET CAM competitor would like to have a second chance at, and the trials, tribulations and triumphs that take place throughout the day that can only be conveyed through some good quality bench racing. Unfortunately, the majority of those quips, however entertaining or boring they may be, that I am privy to are the ones I experienced first hand. And while I could easily fill the pages of this magazine describing in detail how I basically had the overall in the bag, save for several hundred .......... make that thousand mistakes, misfortunes and excuses for simply not having the ability to ride fast enough, I will mercifully spare you the details and try to shed light on some of the highs and lows I heard about post-race. www.TrailRider.com
