Compton, and Mcdonal. After a refreshing reset, riders headed back out for another timed test. This was fairly fast as the trailed opened up throughout the day. Only 3 riders were able to drop a 3 in this section which were Lafferty, Pasqua, and Mcdonal. The final section of the day was a time keeper. The check crews threw in this final check to keep riders on their toes. I remembered the familiar trail from the two-day dual sport so I was alert for a sneaky check crew to jump out from the bushes. The final miles from the finish were the fastest and by far the best trails of the day. Unfortunately, AA rider and 2012 Enduro Champion, Jeff Melik, ran out of gas before the finish and lost two points. I hope this doesn't hurt his championship hunt too bad and comes back strong at round 2. Also, Wally Palmer suffered some kind of problem coming out of the last few sections from what looked like a wreck. As I approached the finish, I saw the popular refreshment tent which was a favorite for racers. Proper hydration is key they say. At the end of the day, Rich Lafferty took home the Grand Champion trophy with a 20-604. He was followed by Christini AWD rider, Wally Palmer, and Bromley KTM's Jeff Pasqua. They dropped a 22623 and 22-670, respectively. It is great to see that Pasqua, a.k.a Ricky Bobby, is on the way up from his neck injury. Will we see a battle for the overall championship come down to the wire in 2013? We will see A Highpoint A went to Darren Schoeneberg while Jack Cutts took Highpoint B. Lastly, Highpoint C went to Shawn Cutts. Thanks to the Meteor club for a great event and stay tuned for round 2 of the ECEA enduro series at the Curly Fern Enduro. Also, mark your calendars for the PBER Enduro and the Greenbriar Enduro coming up in April! April 2013 17
