12 12 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com AHRMA held their annual awards banquet immedi- ately following supper, so most of us who weren't up for some sort of award made a quiet exit to grab some shut-eye in prepara on for Sunday's racing. Most of the New England con ngent grabbed breakfast at the local Waffle House and did some carb loading before heading to the track. It had drizzled on and off all night, so there was no chance the course had dried out. The vintage guys allowed that it was pre y greasy, and lap mes were a li le slower on Sunday, but overall the course was s ll 100 percent manageable and the smile factor was s ll there at the end of the day. The bigger hills were a li le more challenging, and it was easy to blow into corners a li le too hot for what trac on was there. That one bike-swallowing trench had been arrowed around and the big water crossing hadn't subsided any. The best line was s ll full thro le throwing your best bow wave. Again, most of us PV guys would gladly have taken another lap if that darned Hoess fellow wasn't so fast! Fred overalled both days, and I man- aged to get him to crack half a smile for the camera when he got his trophy. Like I said, the dude is focused like you wouldn't believe...all business...but super cool to chat with. Hoess says he'd like to do one more regular Six Days and then at least one more vintage Six Days, but he feels fairly certain this year's ISDE in Italy will be called off due to the Covid-19 mess. As we go to print, race schedules across the country are being altered. Some races called off, some post- poned un l some me later in the year, and some are in limbo. We certainly are living in interes ng mes, but the best therapy can s ll be found on two wheels; so get out there and ride whenever you can wing it. AHRMA Vintage and PV racing is a hoot, and the folks at the races are top-notch. AHRMA is more ac ve in some regions of the country than others, but if you have an older scooter in the garage, why not get it race-ready and come have some fun if the opportunity presents itself. You can get more info on class structure, bike rules, and the like at www. ahrma.org, and you can also find White Lightning race results there. I think Trail Rider Boss, Kurt had a ball, and I expect he'll be back for more the first chance he gets. Enjoyed the heck out of mee ng him and the New England gang and look forward to the next race on down the road.
