Whibley to pull Bobbitt into an oncoming Nick Fahringer. The two friends collide, sending each other to the ground in a heap. Nick enters the woods in last place. It would appear that 2013 is off to another slow start. The first lap ticks by and Nick has pushed through half of the XC-1 Pro line. Lap 2 spins by, and Nick is steadily moving up, his off-season preparations are evident and he looks stronger as the grueling 3+ hour race grinds on. And almost 4 hours later, Nick is in 10th overall and holding steady. He maintains 10th place all the way to the finish and cruises to 7th in the XC-1 Pro Class; not bad for an Enduro specialist. He is greeted enthusiastically at the end by Russell's dad, Bo Bobbitt. A few months into the 2013, Nick (aka "The Ringer") is off to his best start ever, missing the podium but once in the National Enduro Series. He currently sits in third place, just two points behind Russell Bobbitt . Charlie Mullins may look unstoppable and poised to make history by being the first ever to win a GNCC and National Enduro title in the same year, but it's far from a done deal. No one knows better than Nick what it's like to go on a hot streak and have your Private Idaho smashed by a season-ending injury. For the moment Nick, is an enviable position; he has bucked history by starting strong and improved his surroundings and program. But what might be most encouraging is that "as good as I feel, I still have more speed to give." Sounds like he was never missing any essential tools. . May 2013 21
