14 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com I went back down off the mountain and out into the main campground past the star ng line. I talked to a few familiar faces and then headed up the other side of the main valley. Everyone I asked was right; I only had to walk a few hundred yards to see some more of the goods. I found the other side of the main valley to be a li le mellower. That is a rela ve scale, though. I was able to catch up on the ac on and then make my way toward base camp as the three-hour limit was coming to an end. Back at base camp, riders began to emerge from the woods in all direc ons. They were all worn out but smiling. Time for the results. For Gold, we had Ryder Leb- lond, Quinn Wentzel and Nick Fahringer as 1, 2 and 3. Silver was Nathan Taylor, Greg Nolf and Jeffery Hagewood, with Michael Barret, Cody Bollinger and Ethan Burkhart bringing in Bronze. My friend Lenn Shultz placed 4 th in Bronze, which is pre y strong for the beginning of his first full season in hard enduro. Tim Johnson, Eli Hamou and Ma Harris rounded out Iron. In summary, I can't say enough good things about this event. While it is o en hard to find the gnar in extreme events that are friendly from a spec- tator's perspec ve, this was not the case for the Covid Crusher. One can literally walk back and forth across the main valley and see plenty of ac on. From the rider's perspec ve, everyone was all smiles. I even saw injured people walk- ing down smiling. The whole vibe was uncanny. As for SEER Events, if you like some gnar and a good me, then you should consider this venue. They have a bronze and iron class for the more mortal riders so you don't have to be an A Rider or Pro to enjoy these. Check your a tude at the door; these riders are encouraging and have fun. The series has six races spread over the South- east. Not all are quite as spectator-friendly, but should be fun to a end, and riders will not be disappointed. SEER is for real, and the 2021 series winner will be sent to the Red Bull Erzberg race in 2022. You can see their details at seer-racing. com. Be er yet, come to a race. Trail Rider will be back!
