Cody Schafer; fast and smooth en route to the overall win at Farmington. Round 4 - Rocky Mountain Enduro Circuit Farmington WEBE 4/6/2013 Farmington, Arizona A fter 2 trips to Texas, the RMEC crowd saddled up again and hit the road to Farmington, New Mexico for round 3 of the RMEC Enduro Series. This was yet another co-sanctioned race, this time with the WEBE Hare Scramble Series. The Farmington Venue is departure from the Texas rounds terrain-wise as it is much faster and open, with a layout that requires the use of all 5 or 6 gears. The course consisted of a 10 mile loop that was 80 percent sugar sand and high speed whoops with the remainder comprised of short stretches of twisty canyon and a mile or so of single track. Despite being co-sanctioned as a Hare Scramble, each lap was counted as a special test for the RMEC enduro racers and the scores tallied accordingly. Coming off a solid win in Texas, Cody Schaffer looked to make it two in a row in New Mexico. This would be no easy task as the WEBE Series is stacked with talent that places an emphasis on desert racing. It was also the opening round of the WEBE series, which always garners a larger crowd. The day began with temps in the low 80's and sunny skies. Despite the apparent lack of mileage, this course 14 Trail Rider is a total beat down that will test your fitness and will to survive. The experts would do 5 laps, the amateurs 4, and the novices 3. When it was over, RMEC rider Cody Schafer would put 2 Jeff Martinez took 5th in a stacked A Vet class. minutes between himself and second place finisher, David Broderick. Kyle Schafer would then round out the final podium spot. WEBE Riders Travis Porter and Bryant Cope finished out the top 5. In the A class, Travis Newbold took the overall (and 8th overall) from the A Open class. Enduro Specs Jeremy Shining impressed with a 14th overall that landed him in the top A Senior spot. The B class overall went to Jacob Sandeffer out of the B250 class. Garrett Bachand was the top RMEC B rider with a 7th overall and 5th in the B250 Class. In the C Class, Austin Ulibarri took the overall from the C250 Class. www.TrailRider.com
