NETRA ENDURO SERIES ROunds 2 & 3 RoCkIN' IT EARly AND oFTEN Jim Donahue leads Mark Wronski through the Grass track Tri State Enduro "A Good 'Ol New England Enduro" - Joe French ain. Four straight days of showers and drizzle leading up to race day had many of us wondering if the Tri State Enduro would even go off. And if it did, just how much more difficult would the famously technical trails be? Would it be a survival run? It wouldn't take much. There are a lot of people that consider the Tri State Enduro to be one of the more technically challenging venues in a series already stacked with technical venues. I think there is an argument to be made given some of the twisty, rocky trail within the Hodges Dam and the Fort Hill sections. Part of this claim may be rooted in that this event is usually one of the first of the spring when many are still shaking off the lethargy of a long hibernation. After turning off the alarm at 4:30 on race day, the next sound I heard was steady rain tapping on the roof. An hour later I was heading west on the Mass Pike and into clearing skies and dry pavement. The ground was a little moist, but overall, the conditions were much better than most had anticipated. The Tri State Enduro is hosted by the Tri State Trail Riders and is held at Hodges State Dam, which is run by the Army Corps of Engineers.
