10 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com As planned, I rode day two of the R2R on the new TPI. It only took a few miles before the new mod- el really started to shine. It's funny how we don't no ce issues un l they're removed. In this case, the '19 model didn't vibrate through the bars and pegs. Now I'd never no ced much vibra on with my pre- vious models as I was so used to it. Vibra on was part of the package, it's what they did, and I didn't know any different. KTM had done a major rede- sign in 2017 adding a counterbalancer to the en- gine and wow, what a difference. It was almost like riding the bike with the engine off. The new model also was much easier to ride. Possibly as it was so much lighter than my heavily accessorized 2013 but it just seemed to require less effort in making its way down the trail. The suspension was plush and as an older rider, I like plush. I finished day two of the 2019 R2R basically in a fog as the new ride was just so easy and enjoyable to ride. I liked that bike so much that I couldn't bear to send it back and had Mr. Moen send an invoice to my dealer where I bought that bike shortly a er. Now that the 2019 model soon became my new "comfy shoe" and truth be told, I don't think I've ridden that 2013 model twenty miles since first throwing a leg over the '19 TPI. Yes, improvements were many but in my experience, the most outstanding trait about that par cular then-new genera on 300 XC-W was the reduc on in fa gue while riding. It was so easy to log miles in even the sno est of terrain. Even a er owning many other TPI models between the years of 2019 and 2023, that 2019 model became my new favorite with 250 or so hours presently on the clock. Ok now 1200 words into the introduc on of my new 2024 300 XC-W HARDENDURO, once again I'm floored at how KTM con nues to raise the bar with their 300 XC-W model. As men oned, this bike is an en rely new genera on with well over 90% of the components totally redesigned. The frame is all new along with the engine. Gone is the centrifugal power valve, it's been replaced with an electronically actu- ated unit. The fuel injectors (two) have been relocat- ed from the transfer ports to the underside of the thro le body; a nice clean arrangement I might add. For 2024, the 300 XC-W shares the same six-speed gearbox as the XC. Also, the 2024 model does not share any bodywork at all with the previous genera on. The bike is sleek and narrow with ergonomics that could have been designed specifically for yours truly.
