May l 2024 19 Kevin Hutchinson probably summed it up best. The rider racing GNCCs or NEPGs every weekend is probably going to want the Pro simply for the pow- er delivery, but they're going to have to adjust the suspension to suit them. That might mean fiddling with the stock KYBs, which are excellent, or turn- ing them over to their favorite suspension tuner. Other than personal tailoring, the bike is ready to race out of the crate. For the other 90 percent of riders, the weekend warriors, the Ranger will do everything they need it to. Add the Gnarly pipe and maybe mess with the suspension a bit if you want it to ride a li le higher. Don't bother messing with high-compression heads or anything like that. The old GasGas engines lasted forever, and the Rieju is basically the same engine, built for longevity and reliability. Add your personal choice of skidplate and hand guards and you s ll have a grand le in your pocket for race gas and entry fees. So the choice is yours, and it pre y much depends on your riding ability and personal needs, as it would with any bike. If you're s ll in your prime and racing for the podium every weekend, you can't go wrong with the 300 Pro. Tune the suspen- sion to your liking, add gas, and go. If you're like me and my buddies, out to ride and have fun, do a few races a year, but just like to get out and ride without ge ng beaten to death, I'm pre y sure you'll fall in love with the Ranger. Add the Gnarly pipe and you're good to go. You can play ride all weekend with your buddies and s ll line up with confidence come Sunday. Thanks to Mark Berg and the crew at Central Pow- ersports Distribu on for once again le ng Trail Rider play with your toys. www.cpd-usa.com -Jeff DeBell
