Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is an impressive blend of old school and new tech Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is an impressive blend of old school and new tech Triumph 1200 Scrambler XE: I felt at home as soon as I threw a leg over the 1200 Scrambler XE. The bike has such an incredible feel that's a bit hard to describe. Yes, it's tall but not uncomfort- able. Just si ng on it feels like a big dirt bike. The look is also on the vintage side with tank and seat placement so similar to my vintage Triumph 500s and 650s that I've enjoyed so much in the past. My test ride for this model was a one-on-one guided tour by a Triumph factory rep who knew how to ride a motorcycle. Before we headed out, I had a nice conversa on with this gentleman. As we spoke, I knew he was pu ng me through an ini a on process, and happily, I must have passed the test as he offered to take me out on a fun rip around some Vermont back roads, including a fair amount of dirt. Once we exited the fairgrounds, it was on. I immediately gelled with the 1200 Scrambler XE as everything seemed to be just where it should be. As for the motor, being a 1200 triple, yes, it was powerful, but it also had great manners. Basically, just use what you need, and it delivers. If you want to go fast, just twist it. Really fast, twist it some more, and when it's me to slow down, the triple-disc brakes handle the whoa with no drama. Now, I'll be clear, we did not do any real dirt riding other than dirt roads, but the bike feels sure-footed and confidence inspiring. Our rip lasted just under an hour, and I certainly could have gone for more. What really impressed me the most is how I felt one with the bike. A very big bike I might add.
