Once again, we were impressed with the level of commitment Bear Creek members put into hos ng what has become one of the Northeast's most fun and challenging events. Bear Creek Sportsman's Trail Boss, Eric Ryzerski, O o De Jager, and the crew put in a tremendous amount of effort into cu ng miles of freshly cut single track for those that enjoy the fast and flowy and for that we thank you. Techni- cally, the Quarry Run is a dual sport event but calling the Quarry Run a dual sport is a bit of a play on words. Yes, there are a few stretches of pavement but it's more like a 200-mile, two-day enduro minus the mekeeping. Less than 10% of entrants actually finish the day on Saturday. As former Trail Rider Bossman Paul Clipper once said, "You don't want to bring a dual sport to the Quarry Run". Having ridden this rugged event over the last four years, I've got to agree with Clipper. It's best han- dled with a dedicated woods mount with 2-strokes domina ng the majority of the 700+ entrants. As with the sport of off-road riding as a whole, it's the people who make this event what it is and what a diverse crowd it draws. An event geared toward the more serious off-road enthusiast; the Quarry Run does offer something for all ability levels. With an abundance of bypass sec ons, designated by blue ar- rows on a white background (blue for bypass), those who prefer a more relaxed ride but enjoy racking up the miles also enjoy the event while s ll challenging their limits as even the by-passes can be tough at mes.
