With a mile-wide grin, I zipped up and over the mountain ridge, enjoying it like I was a kid again. Once in a while, we get treated to an event that is pure pleasure to ride, and this was it, my friends. As for the race itself, 250+ riders had entered including 5-Time World Enduro Champ and GNCC specialist David Knight. Now, I've been a fan of Knighter for many years and was looking forward to mee ng this great man. With an in- vite from Classic Car Club Manha an, including a fully sponsored, Solid Performance prepped KTM 250 XCW for the day, Knight lined up on row 20 in the AA class. As one would imagine, all eyes were on Knight, but it would be a young A-class racer named Tyler DiBartolo on a Honda CRF250RX to take the overall win, with Rieju mounted Zach Miller taking second and Knight rounding up the podium in third. Another cool story that's deserving of press is San- dy Quickel and his 1974 Penton 100 Berkshire I'd spo ed ripping through a river crossing wound to the moon. I'd learned a er the fact that Quickel had raced the first Moonshine Enduro on his then-new '74 Penton 100 back when he was 16 years old. As with most old bikes, it had slipped from his grasp years ago only to have recently landed in his lap as a basketcase. Being a regular in the AHRMA vintage scene, Quickel made short work of assembling his old bike and raced it again to the finish at the Moon- shine 50 years later! Folks, it don't get much cooler than that! Once again, huge thanks to Trail Boss Francis Cuddy and his crew for all their efforts in pu ng together the 50 th Anniversary of the Moonshine Enduro. Also, hats off to Reading Off Road Riders for all their hard work in laying out such a fine sec on of trail. We'll be back for sure! River crossing was a refreshing treat River crossing was a refreshing treat
