Once again, we put 1.5 or more hours on the bike and changed much of the setup to fit the fast, rough condi ons. We ended up 1 3/4 out on the high-speed bolt, 5 out compression damping, 3 out rebound, and sag set at 106 mm. As for the forks, we set them at 9 out for rebound and 10 for com- pression. I was doing well and feeling confident in our setup for dry, sandy condi ons, and we packed it up, saving our new res for the races. Well, of course, if you were at Southwick, you know it rained all day Saturday and Sunday, and it was a nightmare out there. J Day Offroad doesn't cancel races when condi ons are horrible; you send it and do your best. Some mes, you do well. Other mes, you become a lawn dart and break your thumb. Well, three laps in, that was me. Somehow, I got a flat, tried to push, and paid the price. I wish the con- di ons were what we tested for, and I didn't crash out, but this is a demanding sport, and you have to take the good with the bad. In the down me a er the race, I spoke with Nate, and we decided to send the shock back for him to tweak it a li le bit for me as, in the end, a er tes ng, we felt the shock was a li le too so and fast. He said to send it back so he can work his magic while I heal up. Stay tuned for the second half of this project and the next race and suspension report. Once healed up, we will con nue this journey with Nate for the perfect JDay setup for me on this suspension. I want to end this story with a huge thank you to Nate and Racers Choice Suspension for everything they have done and the extensive me he has given us here at Trail Rider Magazine! I also wanted to point out a few of Nate's many other services that Racers Choice provides. Nate is an official Öhlins suspension dealer and tuner. Racer's Choice also provides laser etching for clutch covers, hubs, pipes, rims, and anything else you can think of. Rac- er's Choice also has you covered for grip donuts and colored rubber valve stem grommets. Racer's Choice also provides a four-step polishing process for fork tubes. Needless to say, Nate has great stuff going on at his shop, with top-notch personalized suspension services, tuning, educa on, and love for the sport. We here at Trail Rider are digging it and look forward to working with Racer's Choice Suspension on future projects! Be sure to look them up!
