November 2024 19 In true Fred Hoess fashion. he finished the race super strong, winning several tests, and had a knockdown drag out with superstar Stephane Peterhansel at the final MX, with Fred coming out victorious! Fred ended up 3 rd in the C2 class and 6 th Overall. It also should be noted a "handicap" scoring system was ins gated this year that affected Fred and a good many of our riders for their final outcome and posi ons. Silver Vase rider Mike Sheetz had a significant mechanical failure that brought him in an hour late; although he was able to re-impound, he took a sizable point hit that really did not represent his overall outcome, which was very good! Trophy Team rider Marc Grossman also took a me hit, missing some marginal arrowing, and got caught out with some late minutes, which also did not represent a great overall event! Results-wise, our Trophy Team got 7 th place out of 13 teams with a stand-out performance from Billy Burns, who placed second in the compe ve A2 class and won his final moto! Our Silver Vase Team got 49 th out of 76 teams; our MTS Club team got 30 th out of 45 teams, with George Pennington, who did really well, placing 16 th in the B3 Class. Chilly White placed 11 th and Ronnie Smith placed 15 th in the B4 Class. Lendon Smith had a super ride, placing 9 th in the strong C3 Class. Out of the Individual riders, Robert Johnson had a great race, placing 4 th , Erik Nijkamp got 17 th place, and Haim Beressi got 21 st place. Team Italy ended up taking the Trophy Team win with riders Enrico Tortoli, Tullio Pellegrinelli and Giorgio Grasso. Trophy Team (Top 5) 1. Team Italy (69.27 points) 2. Team France (379.52 points) 3. Team Czech Republic (420 points) 4. Team Portugal (1055.65 Points) 5. Team UK (1413.14 Points) Congratula ons to all the riders and crew! We proudly represented the United States. We met old friends and made new friends. The spirit of this event is to ride hard, but more so than anything, enjoy the camara- derie, and hang out with cool, like-minded people. The 2025 event will be in Kielce, Poland; in 2026, in Zschopau, Germany; and in 2027, in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. -Suzy
