Every ISDE reunion ride is focused on the people involved with these events, as it should be. Riders, support crew, and staff that helped put on the Six Days are honored, fellowship together, and they can regale us all with their stories. What about the bikes that carried the riders through six days of compe on? These machines are a major part of ISDE history as well, but they cannot share their own stories. That's where Six Day enthusiasts/am- ateur historians have to step in, tell their story, and be stewards of the bike's history. Here is how I was able to step in and help tell a very rare machine's story. Two and a half years ago, I started a conversa on in a comment sec on on Facebook about an ISDE race bike a gentleman had. The bike was a 1994 Gas Gas 250, something I was not familiar with myself and had to do some research on. I made sure he had my contact info and went on with life. About 3 months later, I got a message out of the blue: "I may be interested in par ng ways with the Gas Gas if you're s ll interested." Of course, this piqued my interest immediately, and a er the exchange of a few pic- tures of the bike, I had it purchased. A couple of weeks later, the bike and three large boxes of parts arrived at my house. This is when the inventory of what I had really began. Unbelievably, the bike, a er all those years, s ll had its original #631 Acerbis ISDE numbers and "Moto Club Segre" s cker on the headlight. The white paint inspec on markings were s ll visible on the rear hub, silenc- er, headlight, triple clamps, and frame. The F.I.M. inspec on seal was s ll on the frame as well. In the mean me, the previous owner had sent me a package with some "things that go with the bike". That package ended up including all six days' worth of scorecards for this bike's rider, Ramon Riudalbas, with matching numbers from the 1994 ISDE at the Zink Ranch in Tulsa, OK. This is when I knew I had something special. The research phase had now fully started on this bike's history. A quick scan of the 1994 ISDE results quickly showed that #631 did indeed match up with Spanish club rider Riudalbas on a Gas Gas. Riudal- bas finished all six days of compe on. He ended up 63 rd out of 297 riders in the 175cc and up two- stroke class. Moto Club Segre ended up 39 th in the club standings a er one of their riders dropped out on day 3.
