June 2025 9 The mile a er that is usually nightmarish. Like Mother Earth herself, cul vated the land so that it's impossible to ride a dirt bike through. Bo omless ruts that change lap a er lap, and what I've heard a few NETRA veterans refer to as a typical "sippy hole". Like many others, I was a vic m of this sippy hole last year. I made the foolish mistake of taking the same line I did the lap before. If the Bozrah dirt is chocolate cake, it breaks the world record for layers because I was down to the very bo om of it. I'm assuming the club was red of saving us knuck- leheads and built bridges over this hole, along with a handful of other nasty sec ons. They made it a point not to go off these bridges, and I made it a point to listen. Even with all the rainfall on Satur- day, the wind dried the track out tremendously. The track was pre y straigh orward without the mud holes, and I knew it would make for great racing. I believe the compe on level in NETRA is at an all- me high. The junior sprint enduros on Saturday have raised a new caliber of fast young riders who are quickly making their way through the ranks. In- credibly talented riders who not only know speed but also have a consistently smooth riding style that pairs well with the rugged New England terrain. Uniquely, these young kids are ba ling veteran riders who, a er spending some me away, are coming back to NETRA. If you want to be at the front of this talented field, it takes a lot of dedica on to the sport and a lot of ability. Last year, it was the Berkshire duo of Michael Bloom and Nick Kordana that led the pack. There were a lot of ques on marks leading into the off-season on whether or not these two would return for the 2025 season. I believe they are pursuing other events at the moment, leaving a new prospect to take the reins of the top AA slot. Young phenom Tyler Rocha had a handful of breakout rides last year, grabbing two wins dominantly and proving he has what it takes to run up front. Tyler had a disastrous opening round last year, burying himself in the mud on the first lap and finishing the day with- out scoring any points.
