August 2025 31 The laps would be short, but the course s ll had a mix of grass track, fast two-track, and ght single track. Many people stuck around and took their second shot at the snot-slick hills and hollers of Bybee, TN. The vintage race was fun to watch, with Terry Cunningham taking the overall a er playing cat and mouse with Cody Meeks. Brian Fore put in one of the best rides in that race, winning 60+ in- termediate and ge ng way up in the overall order on his Can-Am. The Post Vintage race saw a new overall winner in Jeff Oakley, the new AHRMA Cross Country coordinator aboard his RM 250. While Jeff was taking off with the lead, another fight broke out on the other side of the playground. Steve McWhorter and Sco "Red Dog" Price had a ba le in the race's first half, swapping posi ons back and forth. Steve's nimble MR 175 would prevail in the ght stuff, and Red Dog's big Husky 400 would pull away on the hills. Watching two of the best guys you'll ever meet was very entertaining. Steve went on to finish second overall on his vintage Honda MR! We got dealt a bad hand on the weather side of things, but all in all, the 2025 Tennessee Ridge Run- ner ended up being a great me with the AHRMA off-road community. That always seems to be the great thing about an AHRMA Cross Country na on- al, half the fun is just hanging out and bench racing with your friends from all over the country! I am very proud to say that, despite the adversity on the course due to weather, my fantas c team ensured that every race started precisely on me, and we had no scoring issues all weekend. We extend a big thank you to all who a ended to compete and support the event. I would like to thank all of my volunteers, friends, and family who also contribut- ed to the event. The Volunteer Riders, a club based in East TN, is always a big help. Phil Henderson and Marc Therrien spent several weekends cu ng and trimming trail with me. Stewart Pack, thank you for your help with graphic design and running scoring for me. Jake Farr for his photography and videog- raphy. Taylor Funderburke for her photography. Last but certainly not least, property owner and friend John Strange, for giving me the keys to his 310 acres, so we could host this event. As the tle states, when it rains, it pours, but we are resilient and stubborn woods racers so that we will see y'all back next year! -Clint
