Thursday night, my buddies and I planned a trip up to
the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Now, at this point,
I should men on that I don't own a proper ADV bike,
but my old Husaberg FE570 seems to work well and
keeps up with the ADV machines with no drama. Being
good on gas, with excep onally long legs for a woods
bike, and fi ed with a comfy Seat Concepts seat, the
old 70-degree 'Berg works well for the job at hand.
We headed out early Friday morning in search of "the
goods". I should add that the beauty of Vermont for
motorcyclists who enjoy dirt is that 55% of all the
roads in Vermont, including superhighways, are dirt.
Our ride wound through pris ne farmlands, beau-
ful barns, and countless cow pastures. The scen-
ery in Vermont is breathtaking, and the people are
incredibly friendly. Most give you a big "hi, how
are ya" wave as you pass their humble abodes.
Our des na on was an old, long-decommissioned
radar tower located atop East Mountain in Burke,
VT. A er about 4 hours, we'd made it to the base
of the mountain. The loca on is desolate, and we
began the 9.5-mile trek up the mountain. A steep,
narrow road that was once paved led us to the
top of East Mountain with an eleva on of 3500+
