24 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com A er Nick Kordana's domina ng hometown victory at Mohawk, Olin Daniels caught a flight home to race his hometown track for the first me ever (he usually gets a work credit at this event). While GNCC was on summer break, Olin raced Rounds 7 and 8, where he got a disappoin ng sixth, then rebounded with a commanding win in the mud. With the dust, any- thing could happen, and I wasn't sure which Olin we would get, especially with Brayden finding his stride in the JDay and P27 series. I knew the two were close in speed and ability, and that it could be anyone's race. A er sweeping every lap of races one through six, I was ready to sit back and watch the seventh and final race. My air filter was clogged with sand, and grime caked my sweaty face like all-natural face paint. About a mile in, there was a small opening of field before the track funneled into a ght sec on of pines. My job was to sit and a empt to direct traffic into the woods. With the limited visibility, this proved to be a nightmare. The AA line came charging out of the field like a pack of wild buffalo. It looked like Brayden Nolle e grabbed the early lead, followed closely by Dennis and Olin. I did my best direc ng traffic, but all I could see was ribbon flying and bikes whizzing past me. Once all the riders made it through, I moved down into the new A/B sec ons that were closer to a hard enduro than a normal NETRA track. The club pieced in two treacherous riverbed sec ons that slowed the pace down immensely, funneling riders into steep drop-offs and mini boulder fields. I did my best to help, but bikes flew in every direc on. One bike had front-flipped off one of the drop-offs and sat perfect- ly balanced upside down—like a bicycle wai ng to get its chain put back on. Dennis Leblanc Dennis Leblanc
