We're fortunate to have so many fun events to choose from, but the bummer is that some events have to be skipped as they share the same weekends. Having thoroughly enjoyed Wayne County Motorcycle Club's "Monkey Bu " dual sport last year, I decided earlier this season to make it a point to a end and ride this fun event once again. Although the trek is long at over nine hours from Trail Rider headquarters, having an opportunity to ride the pris ne farmlands of Up- state New York is always worth the drive. As with most long-distance events, I'd arrived a day early, rolling into Charlie Hill's Arbor Hill Farms just a er dark. Surprisingly, over a dozen campers had set up to begin the fes vi es early. Friday, the day before, was spent riding around on my vintage Hon- da XR, checking out the lay of the land and mingling with the hordes of dirt freaks that rolled in during the day. As for the Monkey Bu event itself, the club and lo- ca on are rich in motorcycling history. Here's a li le background on the Wayne County Motorcycle Club. WCMC was founded around 1928 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts from the ci es of Rochester, Syracuse, and between in upstate New York. Seven years later, in 1935, WCMC became club number 130 to be chartered with the American Motorcycle Associa on and is one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in the Na on, and now celebra ng its 90 th anniversary. Saturday morning began with an informa ve rider mee ng led by Ma Ryder, where the club gave away res and suspension service gi cer ficates to Steve Mathewson's Suspension Service (Race Tech vendor). Wayne County MC also raffled off a Rabaconda re changer for those who donated in support of ac ve-duty military troops. As the son of a highly decorated WWII veteran, I'm impressed and greatly appreciate the support Wayne County members have for our veterans.
