As a freak for quality footwear, whether it be sneak-
ers, dress shoes, work boots, and of course, riding
boots, when our friends at Slavens Racing began
adver sing Gaerne's recently revised Balanced Oiled
Boots they had my a en on. Ini ally designed for
trials riders, these oiled, genuine leather boots offer
versa lity that extends well beyond trials, making
them suitable for dual-spor ng, trail cu ng, and
just general hacking around. Being a li le shorter
than a moto boot and a heck of a lot more flexible
than a moto boot, they work great for this purpose.
In fact, a er spending a day in them, exploring and
cu ng trail, I'd say they are as comfortable as a
quality dress shoe and, dare I say, just as comfort-
able to walk in. Yes, you could throw on a pair of
work boots for occasions such as this, but these
offer much more protec on with a reinforced toe
box and plas c shin guard. On and off is a breeze
with only three replaceable buckles. We're more
