January 2026 9 out of love. There isn't a women's amateur class either. The first me a woman shows up to race, she faces myself, Shelby, Lousie, Hallie… the best in the world. If you made some poor fourteen-year- old boy race Jonny Walker at his first EnduroCross, how's that going to work out? Think he'll s ck around? Most likely not. Lots of women read Hallie's post. Judging from the comments, very few had ever looked behind the curtain. They were shocked. Outraged. The promot- ers of EnduroCross started ge ng hate mail from basically every woman with a dirt bike west of the Mississippi River. At the Tennessee Knock Out, a few weeks later, the promoter approached me. He realized he had a problem with the women's Endu- roCross situa on, and he wanted my help fixing it. Thanks to Hallie, we had some leverage. The prob- lem was that none of us could do the whole series. As soon as we were told it wouldn't be happening, we'd made other plans. But the TKO itself gave me the answer I was looking for. It is a stand-alone single-race AMA Championship. We could do the same at the EnduroCross series finale in Evere , Washington. It was late enough in the year that everything else was over. A month or so later, Shelby and I were given permission to contact riders, solicit sponsors for purse money, and develop a format. I contacted the AMA Director of Off-road racing to confirm the Evere EnduroCross as a na onal champion- ship. We had inadvertently become the promot- ers of Women's EnduroCross! ….and now, I'd like to take a quick break to talk about our sponsors!
