(Yes, folks, it was once legal to ride there). That spring, I'd graduated from trade school, and life instantly got busy with career and home ownership taking priority over trail riding for several years. Bob, Rick, and so many other friends from that magi- cal era have no idea how much of a posi ve influence they were to this teenage kid who was easily led astray. Being welcomed into their fold meant a lot to me, and even though several decades have passed, their friendship is s ll appreciated tremendously. As for Bob, he's a testament to clean living, ea ng right, and staying ac ve through his passions. It's obvi- ous his recrea onal interests have extended his years through excitement and the people involved. His fire for life is s ll burning bright with the enthusiasm of a man half his age. In speaking with Bob, it's apparent that his rela onship with Rob and Nicole at the mu- seum has invigorated him with vivid tales of the glory days of off-road riding and racing. Yes, Bob's s ll got a wonderful gi of gab. Although Bob had given up riding motorcycles in 2022, with help from his friend (and Cycles 128 employee) Nicole Salem, Bob s ll enjoys wrench- ing on bikes in his shop. Together, Bob and Nicole recently restored his 1965 Harley-Davidson 350 Sprint that he raced successfully in many Scram- bles events throughout New England back in the 60s. With a goal of comple ng the bike for display at Cycles Classic Café & Museum in me for the party, it was down to the wire, but they wrapped it up the day before and wheeled it into the museum just hours before the party. This event was a special treat for your editor, Kurt, as, along with Bob and his family, the house was packed with close to 100 people, many of whom I also knew well during my years as a young punk. Catching up with old friends is always fun, and this was one fantas c evening where so many gathered to celebrate this great man, a legend, who's given so much back to the sport we all love so much! Cycles Classic Café is located at Cycles! 128, 107 Brimbal Ave, Beverly, MA.
