Lisa also announced that we had raised about $53,000 for the Cys c Fibrosis Founda on this year. By my calcula ons, well over 1 million motorcycle miles have been ridden during this event over the years, and over $1 million has been raised. It adds up. Suzuki has been a long- me sponsor of the MVTR Cys c Fibrosis rides, and the impact has been enormous. They've been incredibly generous, dona ng a brand-new motorcycle to the cause each year. The bike is raffled off Saturday morning, with each rider having one raffle cket as part of their entry package. But for every hundred dollars a rider raises, they get another raffle cket. The first cket pulled for the DRZ400 this year awarded the bike to Mark Stock. This wasn't surprising since Mark is always near the top of the heap when it comes to raising money. And he is on the Rally Commi ee! Mark declined the bike since "I won the bike just a few years ago and that bike s ll works for me." So, a second cket was drawn, and the winner was…. Mark Stock. Again. And again Mark declined the bike, and a 3rd cket was drawn. This me, the winner was Fred Garnish, a very surprised and pleased MVTR member. A er the drawing and subsequent picture taking, groups were forming up for the various loops and heading out. As a designated Fluffy Bunny guide, I collected a few small groups and a number of strays to lead. At 19 riders, it was quite a large group, but despite the size, the pace was peppy, and there was no dilly dallying. We went kickstands up at 0915 and started following the Bunny route west. The first 10 miles include a fair number of transit sec ons to reach downtown Frank- lin and the bridges over the Pemigewasset and Winni- pesaukee Rivers. The mea est part of the Bunny Loop is west of the rivers, and there aren't many crossings available. Once west of Franklin and the river(s), the fun began with some bony, wet, mul -mile Class 6 roads up into the hills. Finally, the heart started pumping hard!
