Days are growing longer. The tem- perature is rising. Blockbusters are hi ng the big screen. And AHRMA's Mid-Atlan c (MA) region is joining the hit parade with a flurry of early summer instant classics. The Candytown Comeback You know the plot here, the once popular but all too soon forgo en something-or-other gets a shot at redemp on and knocks it ou a the park. A well worn but always popular trope in storytelling. Can- dytown Motorcycle Club (CMC) sits just a few miles from the popular tourist town of Hershey, Pennsyl- vania, hence the confec onary themed moniker. The club's vintage hare scramble event was once a mainstay on the AHRMA MA schedule un l it wasn't. The world changed in 2020, and like many things, the Candytown event was just another casu- alty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, some of the things that made the venue so great ul mately led to its exclusion in recent years. CMC sits on a lovely in mate parcel of woodland with shaded parking, a well-sized club house with kitchen facili es, a motocross track, a trials area, and a several mile cross country course. Sounds like a great place to be a member, right? But, at less than thirty acres total, parking can be at a premium. MA region rider counts had already been rising organ- ically due to the quality of the series, its compe on, and its venues, Candytown righ ully included in that praise before the pandemic hit. Outdoor recrea on, including vintage motorcycle racing, gained a large influx of par cipants when COVID came knocking, and parking at CMC was now an insurmountable con- straint and the series had to move elsewhere. Always hoping for a breakthrough to get this "cult classic" back in the mix, series coordinator Dave Kutskel would o en touch base with the club on its parking situa on. Then in prepara on for the 2026 season, a breakthrough! A neighboring property would grant permission to use an adjacent field for parking! Candytown is back! The club has always been gracious and accommoda ng and also agreed to tame its motocross track for vintage use to allow the event to become the first joint motocross and cross-country race at the property.
