US Trophy Team Wins US Trophy Team Wins 2026 FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy 2026 FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy Zschopau, Germany Zschopau, Germany By Suzy Moody By Suzy Moody Photos By Soloenduro Photos By Soloenduro HOW THE US VINTAGE TROPHY TEAM WON GERMANY 2026! By Suzy Moody This is the story of the USA Trophy Team—Fred Hoess, Billy Burns, and Terry Cunningham—and their remarkable run to win the 2026 Enduro Vin- tage Trophy. A year earlier, these three riders had made a clear decision: they would go to Germany to win. The team had every essen al ingredient. Billy was, without ques on, one of the fastest A-class riders in the world. Terry remains excep onally fast and strong—the ideal teammate to bring his experience and steadiness to the team. And Fred's accomplish- ments at this event were already legendary. All three are ISDE veterans, and all three were ready to win this race. These three riders could not live further apart—Bil- ly in Vermont, Terry in Tennessee, and Fred in Colo- rado—leaving few opportuni es to connect or train together. Their only get-together was an early-sea- son race at the AHRMA Firewater Na onal in South Carolina, where they enjoyed racing and catching up. Otherwise, each prepared independently, as experienced ISDE veterans do. They knew the fitness level required and how to ready their bikes and gear. Each had also secured perhaps the most important piece of the puzzle: a great support crew. By late September, all three converged in Zschopau, Germany, ready and excited. They unpacked, fu- eled, and oiled their bikes. On the morning of Day 1, September 30 th , the Trophy Teams breezed through administra ve and technical inspec on, rolled their bikes into Parc Fermé, visited with riders from other countries and prepared for the race to begin later that day. Day 1 Team USA claimed the top posi on for the day, the Accelera on Test. Although brief, the test serves as both a shakedown and an early indica on of what lies ahead. For us, it set exactly the right tone. 16 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com
