November 2026 19 Three Stand Out Personal Notes Billy Burns – Riding the compulsory Trophy Team "A" Class bike means compe ng in one of the event's most demanding classes. For four days, Billy had to keep the machine together while pushing its vintage suspension to remarkable speeds across challenging terrain—which is a special skill in itself. A four- me ISDE compe tor, including at the 2012 event in Germany, Billy has represented our Vin- tage Trophy Team since 2024 in Italy and has been hungry for a win. He has been the team's buzzing bee, constantly encouraging his teammates to stay focused before and during the compe on. His prepara on is me culous, and he can truly ride the wheels off a 1974 motorcycle! Terry Cunningham - Terry began his ISDT/ISDE career in Germany in 1979, and his determina on to return and conquer the event was unmistakable. With his extensive experience in the ISDE, Na onal Enduro, and Vintage racing, I never had to ques on his ability, focus or resolve. Mike Scholl had Terry's bike fully prepared, so I knew we were in a strong posi on even before the event began. At the event, Terry showed his championship speed and true ISDE determina on. More so, his faithful presence brought strength and a guiding confidence to the team. Fred Hoess - Fred's prepara on and a en on to de- tail are beyond comparison. I have watched him work and seen the wheels turning, but above all, I saw how deeply he wanted this victory. He has compet- ed in this type of interna onal event for more than 40 years, beginning with his first ISDE in 1984. He has been on 14 Trophy Teams, the first winning Club Team in 1996, has earned 19 gold medals in 26 ISDE starts, and has won the Enduro Vintage Trophy Over- all now five out of the six mes he has raced it. He told me, "Winning the Team Trophy is all that ma ers to me." Watching him li the cup high—fulfilling a lifelong dream—made me incredibly happy for him and for the en re team. Un l next year, Go, Team USA! Billy Burns Billy Burns
