THE RACE TEST

finally had a chance to wring out
the Beta somewhere other than
New England. Back in early March
we hit the road for our annual pilgrim-
age to sunny Florida with the Beta
tucked neatly between the Husqvarna
and several boxes of gear, parts and
equipment. The plan was to spend a
few days doing some testing at Croom
Motorcycle Park in Brooksville, Florida
and then head over to the Daytona area
to race the Alligator Enduro.
For those of you who have ridden at
Croom, you know that the majority of
the oft-used trails are whooped-out
and that there is no shortage of sugar
sand. But that's not the whole story.
The Florida Trail Riders (FTR) hold an
enduro there every October and do a
great job of running the riders through
fresh trails while keeping the amount of
whooped out trails in check. Even bet-
ter is that they often keep portions of
the race course marked for recreational
riders looking for a break from the
whoops. The FTR loop is wildly fun
with fast, flowing single track and a
smattering of tight trees.

have very lile to complain about. We will
be having the suspension revalved though.
