May/June 2014 35 rowly beang Taylor Peterson for the C Class overall. I rolled to the starng line just in me for the riders' meeng and warm-up. When the green flag dropped I got a decent jump, but got pushed wide in the first turn and ended up near the back of the pack. I swear arm pump began to set in be- fore I was out of sight of the start. It wasn't long before we were into the stream crossing that has become a constant at the start of the race here. Once we popped out of the woods and onto the gas line I got my first real glimpse of where I was in the group. Less than a half a mile in and al- ready the front runners were beginning to gap the rest of us. I did not get a real good look but it seemed as though two or three riders were geng away. The PSTR club did a good job of laying out the course, using some of the ght, rocky trail we use for the closed course enduro. As I was coming up on the one mile marker I saw the lead group of riders all tangled up and just geng going again. I was too far back to see what happened, but whatever it was, it worked out for me as I was now back on the tail of the lead- ers. I tucked in behind Dylan Macritchie and was hoping to hitch a ride to the front. Dylan was riding really aggres- sively and pushing harder than I could manage with the level of arm pump that I was feeling. That would be my last glimpse of the leaders all day. While I was bringing up the rear John Kelly was out front making a statement, gapping the field by over a minute, a trend that he would connue for the rest of the day. Dylan Macritchie made his way up to second by mid-race and was sll charging hard. The majority of my day was spent going back and forth with Nick Hunter and Josh Toth. On the fih of six laps I thought I had seen the last of them, unl a bad line choice in a mud hole le me buried and allowed Hunter to sneak by. I was able to get going just ahead of Toth, a lead that would unfortu- nately be short-lived. When I was stuck in the mud I sucked a lile water into the carb and the throle stuck wide open. Before I knew it I was facing the wrong way in the trail and Toth was going by asking if I was alright. When it all wrapped up John Kelley made it look easy with a sizable victory over his cousin Ben. Dylan Macritchie rounded out the podium. Andrew Bonville took the A highpoimt from the A250 line. The B highpoint came from the B200 class with Nick Marn not only taking the B overall but also beang all of the A 200 riders as well. So the season opener did not go quite as I had hoped. I was looking for a top five, but that wasn't in the cards for me this weekend so we have to move on and focus on what is to come. Every weekend, bad or good, takes the same amount of effort. I could not put in that effort if it was not for these companies: Edelmanns, Ccycle, Vee Rubber, LDA, STS, Enduro Engineering, Bullet proof, Am- soil, Klim, and Scorpion. These companies have been loyal supporters of mine for years now and I can't thank them enough. Nick Marn won the b Class and beat many A Riders.
