34 Trail Rider W elcome to the 50th Greenbrier Enduro hosted by the Tri-County Sportsman Motorcycle Club. Always a fun enduro held in Port Eliza- beth, New Jersey covering close to 80 miles of trail. Sev- eral days before the event there was a few inches of rainfall making condions perfect in nice loamy soil and sand. This year's enduro had the same start locaon, same podium, but a lile twist! Dead engine start, which for short people such as myself; makes things awkward – luckily I had an electric start! Off into the woods we went, consisng of a nice 1 mile warm up secon to the start of the test. Test 1 was ex- actly what you expected, ght woods, loamy soil, some wet tree roots, and nice flowing trail. The rest of the morning tests were me keeping secons which kept you on your feet because certain areas were just ght enough the trees would skim your bark busters. Most of the trail was similar to last year but there was also a lot of newer trail keeping the Veteran Enduro Riders on their game. The morning gas stop allowed enough me to re- fuel, rehydrate, and eat something small and get back to the trail for some more me keeping and the aernoon gas available. Aer the second gas available, the trails consisted of nice rolling hills along with some neat hill climbs. This spiced up the day a lile since many of us know the trails in South Jersey are predominately flat. Just before the final Test was at a reset (the A/B rider cut- off). Many of the C riders were ready to call it a day at this point. Jeffery Pasqua as many of us know, from the cover of June's 2011 Trail Rider was looking a lile dazed. Some riders saw him go down hard in the previous secon and didn't think he was geng back up. When I walked over to check on him and see how he was doing– I in- stantly knew he did indeed have a wicked crash. He was having a great day all day and I was a bit concerned he may have ended his day based off our brief conversaon. The last test of the day was 12 miles of fast single track where you were in 4th or 5th gear except the last 200 yards of the test. It was freshly cut trails and the most fun I had all day, passing riders every so oen, and saying to myself – no one's passed me yet I must be doing prey well. As that thought passed me, I heard two bikes bat- tling it out and closing in on me fast! It was Dane Schoeneberg and Jeffery Pasqua baling it out. Jeffery was all over Dane like an angry bumble bee trying to pass le and then pass on his right. I could only laugh to my- self as I thought – Jeff may have hit his head hard, but he's got that old man strength everyone always warns the younger generaon about. At the end of the enduro, Jeffery Pasqua earned the Grand Championship podium finish scoring a 6. For the AA Class top three was Dane Schoeneberg scoring a 7, Chase Compton scoring an 8 and Brian Searfoss scoring an 8 just 11 seconds behind Chase Compton! A huge thank you to the members of the Tri-County sportsman club for an excellently executed enduro that was very well marked and fun free flowing trail!
