the silencer tip thanks to the electronic oil injection. Forget about mix- ing gas on this rig. All components are quality units. Clutch is effortless and feel is very progressive. Although marketed as "Entry Level" its certainly no play bike. Once in the woods, we were amazed at how low the little bike lugs, it's a torquey piece with zero hit. Very linear power, similar to the old Yamaha DT-1's of yesteryear. With such a smooth pulling but friendly power plant, traction can be found almost anywhere. The X-Trainer now had our undivided attention and we wanted to see what it was re- ally about, find it's personality and see where it shines. This particular bike belonged to Myrick's Brother, Jerry and had been sprung for a much lighter person than I. Initial reaction was even though it was rather under sprung for this guy, as long as the speeds were kept down, it worked very well. Plush as a Bar- calounger, the X-Trainer worked its way through the snotty trails with ease and really shines when the terrain gets nasty. Even though it's a smaller chassis than Beta's En- duro and Dual Sport line up, after a few minutes in the woods, it felt just fine for this 6' test pilot. What we really liked about this cool ride was how easy it was to ride when the going gets tough. It's next to impos- sible to stall and chugs right on through and over pretty much anything in its path. Even though the X-Trainer has a pretty comfortable seat, it's trials influence is rather pronounced, it likes to be ridden on the pegs and given the smaller size, it's amaz- ingly comfortable for long stretches of technical trash. Another really fun trait of the X-Trainer is how well it makes its way off trail. If you're the type that likes to find their own way through the woods, plonking along and just getting lost for a while, the low seat height of 35.8" makes this ride a blast. Wet weight is listed at 218 lbs but feels much lighter. It carries it's weight low, the electric starter motor mounted to the underside of the gear box has got to be a contributing factor.
