Speaking of amateurs, since most of us are not top ranking pros, Trail Rider would like to focus on what we do best. We like to look at this even from the eyes of mortals or semi immortals. As a rider, I thought that just the Enduro Cross obstacle sec on looked impres- sive. A good bit of the 13-15 mile loop (these changed by event) looked manageable but tough. The hero and creek sec ons on the other hand looked insane and almost undoable unless one has a trials background. Even though they varied the courses and did not in- clude the biggest ledges un l Round 3 of the Pros, they were all really tough. One of the things that made that fun was the diversity of the riders. Both the pros and amateurs came from various backgrounds, ranging from folks who ride hair scrambles to trials and even supercross. Trail Rider talked to Jojo Toole, the youngest rider to fi nish and youngest ever to qualify to run with the Pros on Sunday. This was his fi rst hard enduro but he rides State and Na onal Moto Trials. When asked about the diffi culty he said, "The term I heard a lot was 'relent- less' with some really hard areas. The whole track had no place to rest." It included one of the longest hill climbs he has ever a empted. He completed that on his fi rst a empt. When asked if he would return, Jojo gave a resounding "YES!" Stay tuned for more on Jojo since Trail Rider loves to focus on the up and coming riders. If you get the chance to a end the event or be er yet compete, this is a really nicely run Hard Enduro. Both the paid coordinators, as well as the volunteers, were very welcoming and helpful. Even though the course was too long to see all sec ons, a map was provided with direc ons to the hero sec ons, as well as es - mated mes it would take for riders to approach each por on. This was great, even for the spectators! They had plenty of camping in a laid-back environment, as well as nearby accommoda ons. The spectators were mostly a bunch of riders and their rela ves which makes it extra fun. I recommend pu ng it on your calendar. November 2016 13
