items. No big deal. I have to admit that it has evolved a li le from that me but mostly from low-priced bling.
That's just good for the soul, though!
The end result was outstanding. The 851 mods, while being
unnecessary, I like to brag about them. Many people have
taken the rela vely respectable powerband of the YZ
125 and made it really unusable unless one races on a
track. Tim did add a good bit of hit and brought it on
earlier in the powerband. He didn't kill the already
low off -idle torque of a 125. The moving of the
powerband came at the slight expense of the bike
signing off early (nothing is for free). I added an FMF
2
Fa y to counteract that
eff ect. The result was perfect. The
early hit was now complemented by the ability to over-rev slightly. Some over-rev is
important in a 125 since an early shi may kill your momentum. Some try to kill a 125 and
make the power too bu ery. The 125 is already about knowing when to shi , what gear and
use a clutch. Oh yeah — and keep it pinned! I went with the theory that when I want power
on such a bike, I want it now and as much as I can get. The bike has that. It comes on like a 250.
If that's too much, one can add a fl ywheel weight. Some love them; some hate them. I think it takes away from
a 125. Like I said, I like mine hit in the manner of a 250 (but obviously not as hard). The main diff erence is that
