26 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com Trusty steed, spring freshening KTM 300 XC-W We've all had that one favorite bike, it just seems to eat up the nas ness of terrain without ever asking for much in return. As the years pile up, selling a ride that's delivered so well, some mes makes no sense. It might as well be kept in the stable as a buddy bike or for those brutal events where you might not want to take a shiney new scoot into. This bike for us has been a faithful 2013 KTM 300XC-W. Being maintenance freaks, it's always been properly cared for so it's never really go en roached out. In prepara on for this sea- son, we pulled the Kevin's Racing studded wheel sets and installed our summer hoops from Dubya USA. With last season's res toast, a new set of sneakers were in order. Being based in New England, we've found noth- ing works be er for our rocky/rooty terrain than Kenda's Ibex rear paired with their Triple-S cky (K781) front. We've said it before, this combo is like chea ng it's so good. Given the amount of hours on the original clutch, we thought it best to replace it before dealing with issues down the road. Since we like to support those who support our friends, we reached out to DP Brakes (www. dp-brakes.com ) for a new clutch kit and brake pads. DP is a strong supporter of off-road racers and for that we appreciate greatly. DP's clutch kit is a fully inclusive package including new heat-treated steel plates and fric ons are ready to install with no need to pre-soak in oil. With 95% of all new motorcycles rolling off the assembly line with sintered metal brake pads and DP being the only a ermarket manufacturer focusing and developing sintered pads, DP got our vote. With the new Kenda Ibex rear, Triple-S cky front along with Kenda's Super Tuff Tubes (3 mes thicker than OEM) rolling stock is ready to go. We're taking confidence in DP Brakes and clutch to carry this old war wagon right into the fall riding season!
