and bump start it, but he rode it out!"
No sooner than the Sprint was freed, our sweep crew
heard a hollering from back down the trail, only to find
Marcus Rogers' OIF BSA 441 going up in flames. A
leaky fuel line and a backfire through the carburetor
were the culprits. It took Marcus, Chad Bebout, Steve
Fowler, sweep riders Mark Tart and Mark Price to extin-
guish the blaze. Chad got the entire incident on video,
viewable on the Ton Up NC Facebook page. Thankfully
Marcus was able to ride the BSA out of the woods and
got a first-place in his class the next day.
Finally, after Saturday's race, the rear sprocket bolts had
loosened up on Lebanon, Indiana's Mick Milakovic's
Penton Jackpiner, allowing the chain to derail and wrap
itself around the countershaft sprocket to the point it
couldn't be unwound. This time sweep riders Mark Price
and Jon Prytherch came to the rescue helping Mick get
out of the woods.
