Ride Report Cedartown, Georgia Being based in Maine certainly has its advantages and disadvantages. The best part is the killer riding right out- side Trail Rider Headquarters during the warmer months. Negatives can be four- to five-month long winters. With what seems to be endless snow this season, a trip south to Highland Park Off-Road Resort located in the mountains of northwestern Georgia was in order. It's certainly not the first time we've visited HP and I think what keeps drawing us back is how similar the terrain is to New England. We like rocks and roots and Highland Park's got that. Owner Paul Wright has done an incredible job creating this killer facility that caters to all ability levels. We like a challenging landscape and High- land Park's certainly got that. Creatures of habit? Most definitely, but sometimes what's familiar makes for an easy getaway. No strangers to Trail Rider adventures, my buds Scott Kilton and Jeremy Folino jumped at the chance to head south and ride some sweet Georgia single track. Getting out of town proved to be an adventure on its own this trip. You see, for someone from "away," the easiest way to pull off a Highland Park adventure is to hop a plane with gear bag in tow, fly to Atlanta, grab a rental, and in under two hours you're there at the camp fire. Yes, there are some decent hotels not too far away but we prefer to stay in one of the five cabins Highland Park has available for rent. Rates are cheap at $69/night, $54 additional nights, sleep up to six people and offer primitive but comfortable accommodations. This trip had its challenges as our flight was cancelled due to yet another nasty snow storm just hours before departure. Being hardy souls, we decided to load up the Sprinter van and hit the road. Fortunately, the Trail Rider Sprinter is 4WD and we headed off into the oncoming blizzard with fearless abandon. Dodging spinning-out Highland Park Off-Road Resort
