November 2018 11 on the same lap. This hare scramble series eventually grew into the current GNCC series of today. A er 75 years in business, Ron and his wife Bev closed Bohn Cycle. Bohn's was a KTM and Yamaha dealer at the end, and they now hope to spend me with their kids and grandchildren and concentrate more on riding in the woods than running a busi- ness. He s ll races three to four GNCC events a year and usually wins in his age group. He rides most weekends and is a mentor for many young riders. Ron has great things to say about his career and life with motorcy- cles: "The involvement in the sport has always been part of my everyday living. I always find a burst of youth inside of me when I start talking about my weekend ride. There is nothing be er than playing in the dirt. I have con nued to tutor the young and upcoming riders, from the next genera on of stars, but more importantly, to the rider that just wants to learn and share informa- on. I am at the track involved with racing just about every week, giving what I can because it is my passion." For over 55 years, Ron in his quiet and humble way has not only compiled an impressive motorcycle racing career, but he has also acted as spokesman and mentor for the sport. Thousands of off-road riders owe their passion for the sport and their success on the track to Ron Bohn. Ron was a pioneer in the world of off road motorcy- cling, riding Triumphs before dedicated dirt bikes were born. He was there when the first Pentons and Husqvarnas rolled in this country, and he had great success racing them. Ron, like his peers and mentors, was part of our motorcycling history and he is s ll contribu ng to this great sport.
