What do we like about this strange and unique design — first and foremost, they work well delivering a clean linear delivery in power. We like the simplicity with no ny jets to clog, typical of when bikes sit for lengths of me. We also like the efficiency of the design. Our southeastern editor Bill Pa erson performed extensive tes ng on his 300 Beta and found the Lectron to yield a 20% increase in fuel economy, enough to forego a larger fuel tank and the addi onal weight associated. Having owned every configura on of the Lectron carburetor, I've experienced the evolu on first- hand. Early models were known for their linear delivery, and proper metering rods for the applica- on were of utmost importance since there was no powerjet to handle wide-open thro le condi ons. The powerjet made fine-tuning easier, and the adjustable powerjet Lectron simplified the tuning process tremendously. I believe it was two years ago that Lectron released their new "H-Series" car- buretor, and we jumped at the chance to try it. The H-Series was an instant hit as it improved the en re powerband, with no flat spots or lags when the thro le was wicked open at low rpms or riding a gear higher searching for trac on. We felt the H-Series was as good as it gets and have enjoyed tes ng our carbed 300 back-to-back with several KTM TPIs in searching for perfec on in 2 stroke performance. Enter the new Lectron Billetron! If you're a fan of top-shelf, good 'ol made in the USA products, the Billetron is all that. It's a hand- some product, beau fully machined with a en- on to detail. I had it on my desk for a week or so before finding the me to install it on our carbed KTM 300. Yes, visually appealing. Having installed many Lectrons over the years, I'm familiar with the drill of replacing the thro le cable, and we're happy to report the Billetron is now designed to work with the stock thro le cable. Although we're tool freaks, the standard hardware never seemed right for a person with OCD. Metric on metric, standard on standard. Mixing metric tools with standard just seems wrong.
