February 2022 271 Not a big deal, but if you didn't have a 3/32 nd hex wrench handy, but hardware might get buggered. We're happy to report the new Billetron is con- structed with all metric hardware. Here's a few features of the Billetron and how it compares to Lectron's previous versions. Easy tuning. The Billetron includes quick change billet thumbscrews for the top cover and a me- tering rod adjustment tool for those who like trail side adjustments. The metering rod adjustment mechanism has been redesigned allowing for adjustments in 1/8 th turn increments as opposed to ΒΌ turn increments. The H-Style slide is now aluminum as opposed to zinc for longer wear. The choke knob is now located on the le within easy reach. No more snaking your hand in between the pipe and frame rails to actuate the choke. The float system has been redesigned, including a higher flow, spring-loaded needle and seat. Those familiar with Lectrons of the past have experienced the needle s cking in the seat when the bike sat for a few days (or more) not allowing fuel to flow into the bowl, resul ng in hard-start issues. We're all too familiar with this issue and keep a rubber- pped blow gun handy to blow into the fuel line and unseat the needle. Another bonus is the powerjet adjus ng screw is now horizontally located and within easy reach. The idle screw has also been improved with finer threads, allowing for more precise idle adjustments. Ok, enough technical jargon; how does the new Billetron perform? Well let me tell you what; your friend Kurt is impressed. We installed the carb fresh out of the box, and as always it fired within a few kicks. With temps hovering around 20 degrees, it was cold and we know how cold weather can affect carb-tuning. We were pleasantly surprised to find, once warmed to temp, the bike idled perfectly with only a slight adjustment to the idle screw required. Fi ed with winter spikes and a decent snowpack on the ground, the bike was ready to rip on our local test loop for a proper evalua on. Although trac on was basically nonexistent, the bike pulled cleanly from idle all the way to the top with no flat spots. Bo om-end felt strong when trac on could be found, with a significant improvement on thro le response over the H-Series previously fi ed. In the end, we're sold. The Billetron is another hit from Lectron, and we're thoroughly pleased. For those interested, the Lectron Billetron can be purchased direct from Lectron or from Slavens Rac- ing, a Lectron stocking dealer with a large inventory ready to ship!
