22 Trail Rider www.TrailRider.com 2024 Beta 300 Xtrainer Power Boost 2024 Beta 300 Xtrainer Power Boost By Kurt Flachbart By Kurt Flachbart Few bikes have impressed us as much as Beta's latest version of the Xtrainer. At approximately 10 percent smaller overall than today's full-sized bikes, the Xtrainer with its 35.8" seat height is a perfect fit for men and women of smaller stature. At 219 pounds (less fuel) it's feather-light in feel and oh-so easy to maneuver in the technical stuff. Given that, as a 225-pound, 6-foot German, I can also a est to the fact that the bike also fits those of larger stature quite well also. What makes the Xtrainer so special is the bike is in a league of its own with physical size, electric start 300cc 2-stroke power, and decent trail-worthy ligh ng. So unique in fact, there really is nothing to compare it to. It's been about six months since we took delivery of this '24 Xtrainer. Now that's fine for those who are perfectly happy with going for a nice relax- ing trail ride but once we got used to the Xtrainer, we kept wondering if there was more to be found in the motor. Not that it really needed it mind you, but to just make it more exci ng to ride. During a phone conversa on with Beta USAs Brand Ambassador Rodney Smith, Rodney men oned some mods that really wake up the Xtrainer. One being the stock highly restric ve air filter cage and the other being a restric ve pipe that barely resembles an expansion chamber; there's li le bulge. Of course, proper je ng would be in order with mods that en- hance breathing so dras cally. Within days, we received a new FMF "Fa y" pipe, an unrestricted air filter cage, and our friends at JD Je ng provided a jet kit. It had been a month or so since we'd thrown a leg over the Xtrainer so in order to give you proper back-to-back feedback, we spent
