This property consists of several steep loose rocky climbs, bony single track with a bit of fast and flowy for good measure. The goal was to get fully acquainted with the bike and power deliv- ery characteris cs in out-of-the-crate form. The next morning, we installed the pipe, tossed the restricted airbox cage for a free-flowing cage, and treated the Keihin carburetor to a JD Je ng jet kit. Geared up, we hit the woods and were instantly surprised at how much more power was unleashed from these three simple modifica ons. The FMF Fat- ty wakes the Xtrainer up in a huge way. Fortunately, the friendly bo om end was not disturbed in any way but the bike now has a sweet mid-range hit and flat-out screams when twisted. What was a ho-hum machine is now thrilling to ride. Not scary by any means, just exci ng when twisted. When discussing these results with a few in my circle, counterpoints were "Well why wouldn't you just buy a 300R?" My take on it is these mods are perfect for the entry-level rider whose skills have improved and are now stepping up their game. Another point goes back to the physical size of the Xtrainer being 10% smaller than a 300RR. With the pipe and associated mods, this transforms the bike into a fun li le hot rod. The bo om line is there's nothing like it on the market. The Xtrainer has no compe on. As for cost, with an MSRP of $8299, the Xtrainer is priced close to two grand less than the 300RR and in the end, a 300RR might not be the perfect fit for the average Joe. In our opinion, this is exactly where the Xtrainer shines! Carburetor is easily accessed Carburetor is easily accessed
