It was our man Beau Viens, with a free weekend, who made a last-minute decision to load up our new Beta 450 RC and race P27 at Winchester Speedpark back in mid-June. Later that night, the phone rang with Beau raving about the experi- ence, the venue, and most importantly, his first race, first place win aboard our new Beta race bike. That phone call sealed the deal, and I decid- ed I'd waited way too long and needed to get up to speed on what P27 is all about. Founded by long- me New England moto and off- road enthusiast Paul "The Poacher" Goye e, P27 is a GP format of racing combining motocross and hare scrambles. Formerly known as "New York Offroad", Poacher decided to trim the name to P (for Poacher) and 27, his NESC Expert class num- ber, which he has proudly held since making the Expert class many years ago. Events are sca ered throughout all the New England states and New York. Depending on loca on, the ra o of moto to woods varies greatly. With Winchester Speed- park being predominantly a motocross track, this par cular event featured approximately 80% motocross and 20% woods sec ons. This was a weekend where the moto dudes shined and the woods riders were challenged with sky-high jumps, including doubles and triples. Now in its 9 th season, P27 Offroad has built a reputa on for offering a chill, family-friendly atmosphere, fantas c venues, fair scoring, and just a generally fun vibe. This recipe is working, as gates have been backed up with well over 500 riders entered for Winchester Speedpark. With 15 events on the 2025 schedule, I find it impressive and considerate that the dates were chosen with
