SPECTRO OFF-ROAD CHAIN LUBE Having been fans of Spectro chain lube for years, I'll admit, I was saddened when I learned their old white spray lube was discon nued. When I asked my friends at Spectro about poten al replacements, they offered us a few cans of their latest product for evalua on, formulated specifically for dirt freaks. One of the drawbacks of using chain lube intended for street use is that it a racts dirt and mud. -Accel- era ng wear instead of extending wear. Now, some might argue that O-ring chains do not require regular lubrica on. Yes, O-rings do seal in the chain lubricant, but the rollers and side plates s ll require lubrica on to protect from rust and sprocket wear. Spectro's new Off-Road Chain Lube is formulated to extend chain life and is water-resistant. It flows on and into the plates and rollers with minimal waste, then the solvents evaporate, leaving a clean, clear protec ve film to prevent unsightly rust. SPECTRO AIR FILTER OIL SPRAY As with most topics concerning maintenance, opin- ions vary greatly. When it comes to air filter main- tenance, old school guys like myself prefer immers- ing the filter in a pail of air filter oil and wringing it out, then wai ng for it to tack up before installing. Some prefer spray air filter oil, simplifying the mess while saving me. Although Spectro offers air filter oil in quarts, they have recently created a spray-on filter oil that meets the needs of off-road riders. An easy-to-use product, Spectro Air Filter Oil sprays on like water. The method involves coa ng and soaking the en re filter thoroughly, then distrib- u ng it while squeezing out the excess. Once the solvents evaporate, an effec ve barrier is created to trap and eliminate dirt penetra ng the foam air filter element while maximizing clean airflow. Quick and easy to use, Spectro Air Filter Spray is also a great product to add to your trackside kit!
